I had a run-in some woman at Little Mexico. Her kid was running rampant screaming (which we tried to ignore for a good while) and at one point he climbed next to his grandmother in the booth behind ours and leaned over Indian_Dad's shoulder and coughed into our food. Since there were no booths away from them we could move into and since I can't handle strange little kids coughing in my food I got up and said "he's extemely loud and now he's coughing into our food can you please rein him in." I returned to my seat. Mom and grandmother flew off the handle telling me he was only 2 years old and he's dooesn't have a [censored] thing - referring to possible virus or bacteria (as if that makes it ok to cough into our food??) and the grandmother threatened to "slap [my] face off if this was another town."

All this over me speaking one SINGLE sentence!! I thought I'd entered the twilight zone.

Then the mom stayed behind several minutes to cry and pray over the matter with a local church member (I only know that detail because I did a photo shoot at that church Thursday).

WTF is the matter with people?!?!?

I really don't care if your loose kid runs out in the street and gets runover because you weren't paying attention, but when he starts coughing on my food I'll say something.

It's not hard. Watch your [censored] kids! I see folks behind bars every night that snatched up a victim because the parents were too [censored] sorry to see what lil junior was into. These kids were crawling around on that nasty-[censored] carpet (i'd say the kids stay sick because of doing stuff like that). The word for today is sanitary boys and girls.

Like I told Indian_Dad, if she WAS dumb enough to pull off her threat to "slap my face off" I wouldn't slap back - I'd prefer to pull out the cell phone and make a nice phone call to our local PD.
(Of course we know it was just a stupid idle threat anyhow - trying to act big)

Any woman stupid enough to threaten a lady accompanied by a uniformed Comonwealth Of Virginia employee really needs our prayers. Think if I showed up in dress uniform to visit some of my good law enforcement buddies at the Wise County courthouse that the judge woud consider me as a credible witness? we ask that you send a dove of enlightenment to this poor soul
may it rest on her shoulder, and give her words of wisdom when she begins to falter

This world is tough if you don't have that father, that you would let yourself get to the state that you would threaten violence, all because someone asked you to control a little one
May you give her diligence O lord, so that she will care for and protect that little sheep that you have entrusted her with, so that he may not fall into the path of harm, end up on a milk carton..etc

In this case, the kid was playing at the door unattended at several points.

I'm not responsible for babysitting strange children. Watch your own children.
I used to stress over parents not watching their kid when I worked at Wal-Mart. Small kids running through automatic doors into the parking lot, kids standing in the seat part of the shopping cart reaching for things, Code Adam after Code Adam - using their kids to shoplift, you name it. You get over it eventually. I'm not responsible for their lack of parenting.
